Introduce yourself

Nicki, 28

Why did you start personal training?

I wanted to get back into an exercise regime but having not exercised consistently for quite some time knew I was out of shape and didn't know where to start so thought I'd seek some expert guidance. I wanted to get fitter and stronger, and lose some body fat, so decided working with Joey would give me the consistency and accountability I needed, and also help increase my knowledge.

What have you achieved through personal training?

It has had a huge impact on all elements of my life. I am now far more focused on my health and well-being and have learnt to prioritise my nutrition, exercise, sleep and stress management which have all improved dramatically. My fitness has improved more than I ever expected, which has improved my quality of day to day life and I am now the fittest and strongest I have ever been.

How has your coach helped you with your goals?

Joey is extremely supportive, knowledgeable and understanding. He has mastered the art of knowing when to push you and when life requires us to take things easier. He is always respectful of life influences outside the gym, and continually encourages his clients to be the best they can in terms of not only health and nutrition, but also sleep, stress management and managing the uncontrollable life events which affect your wellbeing. Joey has a wealth of knowledge which he is always willing to share and his continual learning and thirst for knowledge shows his passion for his work and his clients, which makes him an incredible trainer to work with.

How would you describe/summarise your experience working with your coach?

Having had a bad experience with a PT in the past, I was nervous that this scenario would playout again, and I'd end up feeling that I'd wasted my time and money, but having worked with Joey for 10 months, I can honestly say it was a great decision to try working with a trainer again. I have never stuck with an exercise regime for such a long period, but working with Joey has become about so much more than just the time in the gym, and has had such a positive experience on so many elements on my life that I feel constantly encouraged to continue. That being said, it's also the first time I've ever looked forward to going to the gym as Joey ensures the sessions are always tailored to your goals, and continual progression, so you never feel like you've got a 'cookie cutter' session, but that it has been specifically tailored to help you improve and be the best you can be.

What would you say to somebody who was thinking about trying personal training with your coach?

Joey has had a hugely positive impact on so many elements on my life, and not only focuses on improvements in the gym, but if desired will help with many aspects of your wellbeing. His approach is very different to other PT's I've worked with and his dedication and thirst for knowledge is admirable and really shows his professionalism and care for his clients. I would absolutely recommend Joey as a coach - give him a try, you won't be disappointed.
