SUMMARY:

  • We worked on establishing a full understanding of exercises and what type of program was applicable to Alice and why.

  • Week in week out Alice improved stability, strength, execution and confidence due to great listening skills and trusting the process. Session after session Alice always arrived on time with motivation to learn and improve.

  • Alice suffered from some local pain in her upper body and soon became pain free from strengthening local muscle tissue.

Why did you start personal training? 

I started personal training after arriving back home after 4 or so months of travelling during my gap year. I had an amazing time, but my overall health definitely took a backseat, I ate what I wanted and didn't enter a gym for that time period! I knew that when I got home, I needed to focus on regaining my fitness and get back to healthy habits and lifestyle. Because I had spent so long out of a gym routine and had lost fitness, the thought of getting back into it felt intimidating and overwhelming, and I realised in the process that I also wanted to change my exercise habits and become stronger, rather than just focusing on HITT/cardio. I was starting university in September and wanted to feel physically and mentally the healthiest version of myself. All this led to the decision to start PT with Dan.

 

What have you achieved through personal training? What is different about you now? 

The power of personal training is that self-improvement does not stop at physical health but positively impacts other key areas of life. On a practical level, PT with Dan has given me invaluable knowledge about a whole range of exercises which has translated into confidence in my own personal gym sessions at university. I had absolutely no experience of weight training prior to Dan and through his incredible knowledge, passion and support have progressed hugely and understood the importance of correct form. I have never felt so physically strong and fit. Personal training has also greatly improved my mental health — at the end of every session I not only feel like I have accomplished something but noticed that in day-to-day life, I have a more positive mindset and increased energy levels. 

 

How has your coach helped you with your goals? 

Dan is one of the most motivating people I have had the pleasure to know and his genuine passion for and wide knowledge of healthy living translates into all his sessions. Whereas in the past I struggled to maintain motivation, consistency in the gym and maintenance of healthy habits have become more and more like second nature to me due to his constant encouragement and support. His positive energy is contagious.

What would you say to somebody who was thinking about trying personal training with your coach?

It will be one of the best — and most important — investments you can make for yourself. Know that if you do, your life will undoubtedly change for the better!
